DUILLEOG

It was really cold today again. But slightly less cold than yesterday. I said my goodbyes to my girlfriend over coffee. We exchanged Christmas gifts early. I got her earrings, socks and a book. It’s the last I’ll see her for a month. She cried and I told her not to. I was sad but I didn’t want to show it because it would make it harder. We then had a mini ice cream date. I know ice cream is meant for summer but I didn’t really care; we had fun. My mam and sister are coming up to Dublin tomorrow to say goodbye. I hope they like their gifts too. I still don’t feel right about leaving her and going so far away. I’m going to miss everyone so much. In the bus on the way home the lights from other cars reflected on the roof. It looked like little beams of red lights flooding the ceiling and travelling backwards out the back of the bus, but I don’t think anyone noticed. They just wanted to get home and out of the cold. When I got off the bus the lane was filled with more shadows than usual. A cat was staring at the moon. I was walking up behind it and tried to mew at it so it knew I was coming but it didn’t hear me. Then it got a shock as I walked past it and I felt bad.
